Spiritual Trauma
“Spirituality is… connectedness and the search for meaning and the sacred… The guiding framework that helps a person address the deep, existential questions at the center of human life” - Hillary McBride, Holy Hurt
Spirituality is often thought of as a relationship with the divine—something separate from everyday life, or tied only to organized religion.
But what if spirituality is also about how we connect—to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us?
At its core, your spirit is your deepest sense of self. It’s the part of you that longs for meaning, safety, connection, and belonging.
When those early connections—especially with parents, caregivers, or authority figures—are shaped by trauma or abuse, it can deeply impact how you see yourself. You may struggle with self-trust, feel disconnected from who you are, or believe that your worth depends on others’ approval.
Over time, this can leave you feeling lost, unsure, or disconnected from your sense of purpose.
So how do we begin to heal?
In my practice, I offer a supportive and gentle space where we can explore the beliefs and experiences that have shaped you. Together, we’ll work to reconnect you with your sense of self, heal the parts of you that feel unseen or unheard, and build a foundation of self-trust, confidence, and inner stability.
