“My children have brought me joy, contentment, fulfillment, wonder and delight in staggering abundance. But that’s just part of the story. This is the rest.” (Matrescence, Jones)
I’ve recently read the book Matrescence by Lucy Jones and found myself struck by the author’s insights into the process of becoming a mother (also know as matrescence). This book will move you, help you feel seen, and give you wisdom on your parenting journey.
Jones writes with honesty about the joys and woes of becoming a mother and losing oneself to a singular identity. Packed with astute personal anecdotes and data from various scientific fields, this book is a relatable and refreshing view of motherhood.
Join me to discuss this book with a small group. My hope for this book club is to learn, grow, and build a community of mothers.
